Zap all set in Procomp Monaro Top Doorslammer
Three time back-to-back Australian Top Doorslammer Champion John Zappia has secured new Naming Rights Sponsors for the new 2010/2011 ANDRA Pro Series, ready for the opening Round at the Fuchs Nationals in Sydney, Australia.
"Procomp Motorsport have come onboard as our new Naming Rights Sponsor" said John Zappia this week in Perth, "we will be showcasing the uniform Procomp Motorsport Tear-Off Logo on Craig Pedley's 'Crusher' HQ Monaro Top Doorslammer for the coming season, in which I will drive and tune".
Procomp Electronics | Motorsport established in 1980, is an Australian owned International company who pioneer in manufacturing and wholesaling a diverse range of performance parts for the automotive industry. The company has rapidly expanded with worldwide sales and distribution.
"I am excited to be working with Procomp this year and appreciate them joining our winning team as they are no strangers to the sport of drag racing. They currently sponsor Lindsay Strassburg from B & J Racing Transmissions in their NHRA Top Fuel Dragster driven by our mate Mike Strassburg, as well as other successful teams. I have been dealing with them for over a year or so, using their high performance parts on my street car and am looking forward to further innovating and developing their products. In doing so, Zappia Racing is now Western Australia's Authorized Dealer, and Southside Engine Center will be representing their products here in Perth.
Striker Crushing and Screening have elected to continue on with Zappia Racing, taking on a Major Sponsor role in the team, with Director Craig Pedley still overseas with heavy business commitments.
Fuchs Lubricants have again come onboard as a major sponsor and their high quality oils will ensure we continue to perform at the highest level.
Force Tools are another major sponsor back for the new racing season and they will help the crew stay equipped with a full array of quality tools to enable the fast turn-arounds that the crew is famous for.
Southside Engine Centre are another major sponsor supporting us again this season with Graham Jones' wealth of experience, and a fully equipped machine shop to ensure the highest quality machining to get the best performance out of our engines.
Other major sponsors to renew their support are Beta Spuds, Mickey Thompson Tyres, Noonan Race Engineering and PPG Automotive Refinish who all contribute to the success of the Zappia Racing Team either financially, with product or both.
We are grateful to all our sponsors from Naming Rights sponsors through to supporting sponsors as they all play a part in the success of Zappia Racing and we hope to enjoy another season of world class drag racing and promote our sponsors at every opportunity.
The season starts with The Fuchs Nationals to be run from the 10th to the 12th September at WSID in Eastern Creek. Eighteen Top Doorslammers are entered for the event, competing for the eight car finals field.
So what has John Zappia got planned for this new season?
"We already have the quickest and most consistent Top Doorslammer in the country and even if we didn't do any development we would be seriously competitive and most teams would find it hard to beat us. But that is not how we race. We are constantly making small changes and learning. We learnt something at the Winters that made us smile and say to ourselves that there may be even more in this Hemi yet".
"We think we will see a "five seven" this year. When we ran the 5.805 National Record at the Winters it still had something left in it. We have a disadvantage over more modern cars in the field with the brick like front end of the HQ, so we may have to find some more power to get some higher speeds".
"But winning Championships is our major focus, and that means having a consistently quick car with the depth of data, inventory and experience. We have all those and that is something all our sponsors and supporters enjoy so much".
"The crew and I just can't wait to go drag racing again. Putting on a good show for our fans is something we enjoy. Smoking those big Mickey Thompson slicks in huge long burnouts still gets me going".
